Meet Grace

Grace is a Client Lead and Chair of the Bridewell's Women's Network.  Grace helps clients enhance their security posture, and supports managed services delivery.

Hear more about Grace's story below:

"My career in cyber security began in 2015, after pursuing my desire to make a difference in the IT sector. Prior to this, I completed two years of university study (Mathematics with Actuarial Science) and worked as an e-commerce content and website assistant at an interior design company. I joined the Ministry of Defence as a cyber security apprentice, where I committed to a fast-track training programme as an incident manager and coordinator."

"After working within the public sector, having gained additional qualifications to further my education, I wished to transfer into the private sector to expand my knowledge and build upon my experience in cyber security. I had the opportunity to hold several roles, and the experience taught me that my strengths lie within security incident management and strategy, particularly within communication across a variety of stakeholders. I enjoyed stepping back and really understanding what the 'bigger picture' was."

"I joined Bridewell in 2023 following maternity leave and, during this time, I established new priorities, identified what was important to me and what drove the future of my career. I have had nothing but support since my first day and cannot emphasise how much the core value of ‘One Team’ rings true within the company. Being part of a people-focused culture has supported me in this next stage of my professional journey, and I am both valued and respected for what I bring to the team. My current and past roles have taught me to be adaptable and to manage strategy efficiently despite a fast-paced environment with unpredictable challenges.

I now do what I enjoy most. As a Client Lead within Bridewell, my primary responsibilities are to guide my clients to improve their security posture and support the Security Operations Centre in delivery of our managed services.  On top of this, I am the Chair of the Women’s Network within Bridewell, an important community that celebrates and inspires women in cyber security by creating a space to connect, champion and empower our members."

Gavin Knapp

Meet Gavin

Gavin is a Cyber Threat Intelligence Principal Lead at Bridewell and has taken a non-traditional path into cyber security. Gavin started his employment in the labour field and then came across an opportunity as an IT analyst, which was a turning point in his career.

Hear more about Gavin's story below:

"I’m Gavin Knapp, 41, originally from the South Wales valleys, in a small town called Brynmawr. My career path has been anything but traditional—it's been full of ups and downs, which have shaped me into the professional I am today. I left school after my GCSEs to work in a factory, but a few years later, I decided to pursue higher education and earned a degree in Business Information Technology.

My early career was a mix of jobs—driving a white van delivering medical equipment, labouring, and working for a bath lift manufacturer. These experiences taught me the value of hard work and adaptability. My first real break came when I joined Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council as an IT Support Analyst. I’ve always been a hands-on person, and luckily, the local authority needed an Information Security Officer. This role was a turning point for me, combining my curiosity for technology with my growing passion for cybersecurity.

After two years, I landed an interview for the Head of Security at Gwent Police, but while the opportunity fell through, it led to something even better. Scott Nicholson, my interviewer, invited me to join Bridewell—and that’s where my real professional journey began."

"Since joining Bridewell, I've worked on a wide range of consulting projects across the UK, helping both SMB and enterprise clients tackle challenges in GRC, ISO 27001, cloud security, and data privacy. About six years ago, my focus shifted towards cloud security and security operations, and I was fortunate to play a key role in building Bridewell’s SOC and managed security services. I’ve held several technical and management positions within Bridewell’s Managed Security Operations Centre, MDR, and CTI services, and had the privilege of safeguarding some of the world’s most critical networks. In fact, I am proud to have been part of one of the first ever teams to deploy and build a service around Microsoft Sentinel globally."

"As a rugby lad, I’ve always valued loyalty, respect, and the willingness to tackle any challenge—qualities deeply rooted in the sport. Bridewell mirrors that team ethos, where everyone works together to achieve high performance. Candour and fast feedback are encouraged, and it’s that honesty and trust that allows us to grow and succeed as a team. Just like on the rugby field, you know you’ve got your teammates’ backs, and that’s exactly how Bridewell operates

What makes Bridewell special to me is not just the variety of work, but the incredible people I’ve had the chance to work with. The diversity of talent and perspectives here keeps me motivated and excited to continue learning and developing. Bridewell is a place where people from all walks of life are valued, and the company genuinely invests in both personal development and the growth of its functions.

I’m proud of the journey I've been on, and I’m grateful to Bridewell for being a key part of it. If you're looking for a place to make a difference, grow your skills, and work alongside some of the best in the industry, I encourage you to join us. There's no better place to take your career to the next level."

Meet Mike

Mike is an Academy Analyst at Bridewell, having graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Security. He brings over 10 years of experience from his service in the British Army.

Hear more about Mike's story:

"Hi, I'm Mike Brough. I am an Academy Analyst at Bridewell and have been with the company for about four months now. I am a recent BSc (Hons) Computer Security Graduate, and prior to this, served for just under 10 years in the British Army, working with the Apache Attack Helicopter.

The Academy has been a brilliant starting point for me following changing industries as it has allowed me to gain on-the-job experience as a Security Analyst, whilst studying for industry recognised certifications such as my SANS GFACT. Alongside this, another highlight of the Academy is being able to work alongside other departments to gain firsthand experience in different cyber professions to help me plan my future career path within Bridewell."

"So far, my experience with Bridewell has been fantastic, all my colleagues have gone that extra mile to help me integrate into the company and being able to work alongside so many knowledgeable professionals has really allowed me to expand my skills in a short period of time. The company also has a fantastic culture and work-life balance, which for me is a big part of what I look for in any company.”

lauren bridewell

Meet Lauren

Lauren, a Client Lead at Bridewell, graduated with a passion for technology in computer science. Her career progressed through her love of teaching as a university lecturer specialising in cyber security, before moving into a role as a security analyst followed by a client lead.

Hear more from Lauren below:

"I never imagined that studying Computer Science at university would open so many doors, but my journey so far has been nothing short of incredible. My passion for technology grew during my studies, and I discovered an even deeper interest in cyber security: the challenge of protecting systems and data in an ever-evolving digital world fascinated me.

After graduating, I took on roles teaching on a school's outreach program and as a University Lecturer, specialising in cyber security. It wasn’t just about teaching students in the classroom; it was about making an impact. I was fortunate to be able to give back to the community by upskilling pupils, teachers and professionals in computer science, bringing technology to life for people who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to explore it. Seeing someone grasp a new concept or feel inspired has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.

Eventually, I decided to step into the fast-paced world of cyber security as a Junior Security Analyst at Bridewell. It was a big change, but I knew I was ready to tackle the challenges of identifying and protecting organisations from cyber threats. The transition from teaching to working in the industry gave me a unique perspective: I don’t just see the problems we face today; I think about how we can prepare the next generation to tackle the challenges of tomorrow."

"When I joined Bridewell in 2023 I was instantly welcomed into a culture that truly lives its three values: One Team, Do the Right Thing, Above and Beyond. Starting out as an analyst was an invaluable experience; it gave me hands-on exposure to the technical side of cyber security by identifying threats and responding to incidents in real-time. I learned to think critically under pressure and analyse complex problems. Beyond the technical skills, I discovered the importance of clear communication when explaining risks and solutions to clients.

Bridewell’s fostering environment helped me to transition naturally into a client-facing role. As a Client Lead, I now work closely with organisations to understand their unique challenges and tailor cyber security strategies to meet their needs. This role has allowed me to combine my dynamic background in education with my growing hands-on technical expertise to translate complex concepts into actionable insights to strengthen clients’ defences. The collective energy and support of my fellow colleagues constantly inspires me to not just tackle evolving challenges but to empower people within the business and our clients. Bridewell is a workplace where passion is celebrated, growth is encouraged, and every day is an opportunity to make a difference. "

Meet Pete

Pete, a Principal Consultant at Bridewell, began his IT career in local government, progressing from support roles to working with Windows Server, Citrix, SANs, and virtualisation.

Hear more about Pete's journey below:

"My career in IT started in local government with first and second-line support roles. I then moved into a Windows Server-based environment, which gave me exposure to technologies like Citrix, SANs and virtualisation.

I spent many years working in infrastructure designing and deploying solutions around Windows and VMware in the public and private sectors, before moving into the cloud with Azure.

After a few years of Azure experience, I moved into security with the Microsoft M365 Defender suite, where I deployed solutions to large enterprises before I came to Bridewell."

"I joined Bridewell in July of 2024 after thirty years in the IT industry and immediately knew that I had joined somewhere special.

Everyone within the company is welcoming, helpful and always happy to help out.  As Principal Consultant in the Cloud team, I oversee a group of extremely talented consultants who specialise in Microsoft 365 Security as well as designing and deploying solutions myself.

At Bridewell, we get the chance to work with some large household clients on exciting and challenging projects, which leads to a huge sense of accomplishment that never goes unnoticed."
